DAVENPORT, Iowa — One person was injured in a Davenport house fire Saturday afternoon in the 1100 block of West 59th Street.
Davenport firefighters responded to the fire just before 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, and found smoke coming from the rear of the house and heavy fire coming from a second-story window. An upstairs bedroom was discovered as the source of the blaze.
The house was searched after the fire was extinguished, revealing no one was inside. Significant smoke conditions persisted, which left firefighters on the scene for hours to ensure all flames had been handled.
One occupant was injured by minor smoke inhalation and was eventually transported to a local hospital. Two dogs escaped the burning structure safely, and there were no reported firefighter injuries.
The fire's cause remains under investigation, and the structure is no longer habitable.
