No injuries in Davenport house fire Monday night

No injuries were reported to either residents or firefighters after a fire in Davenport Monday night
District Chief Robb MacDougall said being at the firehouse is routine for them so they wanted to give others a chance to see what firefighters do day-to-day.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — No injuries were reported to either residents or firefighters after a fire in Davenport Monday night.

The Davenport Fire Department responded to a call in the 3300 block of W. Locust Street. The incident occurred at around 9:30 p.m. and was identified as a structure fire.

The department attended to the fire with three engines and two ladder trucks. The first unit to arrive noticed smoke coming from the side door of the story-and-a-half home. Fire crews extended a hose into the side door to quickly extinguish the flames.

A search for occupants was conducted. All had made it out of the residence safely. Moderate smoke damaged the home, making it uninhabitable.

Crews remained at the site for over an hour to ensure complete extinguishment and investigate the fire’s causes, which remain unknown.
