2 children, 1 adult injured in crash near Riverdale schools, officials say

A sheriff's deputy told News 8 that a sedan was traveling north on 256th St. and a box truck was heading east on 94th Ave. when the two collided in the intersection.

PORT BYRON, Ill. — Three people, including two children, were injured in a crash near Riverdale schools Thursday morning, according to officials. 

It happened around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of 94th Avenue N. and 256th Street N. (County Road S.). A sedan was traveling north on 256th and a box truck was heading east on 94th when the two vehicles collided at the intersection, the Rock Island County Sheriff's Office said. 

All three occupants in the sedan were injured. The adult driver was airlifted to Iowa City and officials said they are in stable condition. The children were transported to a local hospital and have since been released. The truck driver was treated at the scene, according to officials. 

The Rock Island County Sheriff's Office posted about the crash around 8:30 a.m., asking drivers to find an alternate route if they're taking 94th.  

The crash remains under investigation. No other information was made available at this time.
