ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — For those who have experienced the loss of a loved one, the holidays can be a difficult time. An annual project through the Trinity Health Foundation is hoping to remember those who have passed while also supporting UnityPoint Hospice patients and their families.
Project Peace is back for its third year and is currently seeking donations that will help support end-of-life treatment for UnityPoint patients. Each donation amount provides patients with comfort items not covered by insurance. Donations will be accepted until Nov. 28.
- Every $50 donation will provide basic necessities like gowns and bedding for patients.
- For $100 donations, patients will receive four body care products to bring them comfort.
- Donors who give $250 can provide three patients with one month of massages and music therapy.
“Transitioning a loved one to hospice care is emotionally challenging," Amanda Koehler, a hospice administrator at UnityPoint at Home, said. "Project Peace contributions help families focus their attention on supporting their loved one, rather than worry about the ability to afford necessary services.”
Donors who want to honor a loved one can choose to have their names placed on a custom glass butterfly ornament. Hand-crafted by a local artist, these ornaments will be on display at UnityPoint Health - Trinity in the Quad Cities before being shipped to the donor in time for the holidays.
“By donating to Project Peace, you are supporting hospice patients and their families at a time when they need it most,” Mary Schmidt, the Trinity Health Foundation's president, said.
