Hundreds of MidAmerican customers report power outages in Quad Cities metro due to storms

MidAmerican said callers reported a lightning strike on a pole in Bettendorf, along with a downed tree on an overhead line.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Update at 8:13 a.m. on Monday, July 3: Power has been restored to most MidAmerican customers in the Quad Cities area. 

Update 9:15 p.m.: A MidAmerican spokesperson said two callers reported a lightning strike at a pole near 28th and State in Bettendorf. That outage is affecting around 970 customers since 7:42 p.m. Crews are actively making repairs but the energy company did not have an estimated time of restoration. 

Over in Moline, around 535 customers were without power from a downed tree on an overhead line. That power was restored in less than an hour.  

Update 8 p.m.: Close to 1,800 MidAmerican customers are now without power in the Quad Cities metro, as of 8 p.m. Tuesday.
