GALESBURG, Ill. — Update, Monday, Nov. 4 at 1:20 p.m.: Ameren's outage map shows power has been restored for most of those affected. News 8 will update this story if more information is made available.

Ameren Corporation has reported thousands of power outages across the Illinois side of the WQAD viewing area, with around 8,000 customers currently without power as of 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4.
The affected areas are south and west of Galesburg, including the towns of Monmouth, Avon, Abingdon and Stronghurst.
According to an Ameren spokesperson, the power outage is due to a subtransmission line issue outside of Abingdon. The company is working to reroute power for impacted customers while Ameren fixes the issue.
This same area experienced power outages on Sunday, Dec. 3. The latest outage occurred around 9:30 a.m on Monday.
Crews are currently on the scene and are investigating the outage. As of now, there is no timeline for when power will be restored for these customers.
