MILAN, Ill. — The United States Postal Service is moving forward with plans to shift some operations away from its Milan processing center.
Under the plan, which was first proposed in January, services at the Milan facility will instead be transferred to another USPS facility in Des Moines. According to USPS documents, the Milan facility will remain open and will become a local processing center.
The shift is expected to save the USPS more than $1 million in the first year it takes effect. While USPS officials said no career employees will be laid off during the transition, one management position and four craft positions are expected to be cut.
