LEE COUNTY, Illinois — A person is dead after being struck by a train in rural Lee County, Illinois.
According to a Lee County Sheriff's Office news release, authorities responded to an area along the railroad tracks about a mile west of Wadsworth Way and Railway Road around 8:10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Deputies found a male near the tracks who had been struck by a passing train.
The person was pronounced dead at the scene.
No additional information is being released pending notification of the person's family. This incident is under investigation.
