1 person dead after car versus pedestrian in LeClaire bar parking lot

The victim was struck and killed in the parking lot of the Riverview Roadhouse on Saturday evening.

The woman who was hit and killed has been identified as Leslie M. Powell, 44, of Bettendorf, according to a release from the LeClaire Police Department.

A woman is dead after a car versus pedestrian accident in a LeClaire bar's parking lot on Saturday, Feb. 10.

According to a press release from the City of LeClaire Police Department, police responded to the scene at Riverview Roadhouse, located at 701 N. Cody Road, shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday.

The female victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is being withheld pending family notification.

LeClaire Police arrested Molly Vance, 36, who was charged with operating while under the influence (1st Offense), and homicide by vehicle- operating under the influence.

According to the criminal complaint filed in Scott County courts, Vance was driving a 2003 Cadillac Escalade when she reversed in the parking lot and backed into a telephone pole.

The complaint says she then put her vehicle into drive and accelerated towards the front of the Riverview Roadhouse, pinning the victim between the railing of the patio and the vehicle.

Vance was given and failed standard field sobriety tests, where she blew a 0.182 on a preliminary breath test. The legal blood alcohol content limit is 0.08.

According to Scott County jail records, Vance remained in custody for about 10 hours before bonding out. Her preliminary hearing in Scott County is set for Tuesday, Feb. 20.
