KNOX COUNTY, Ill. — One person was killed after being hit by a train Thursday night, officials say.
Shortly before 10 p.m. on March 21, officials with the Knox County Sheriff's Office and Galesburg Police Department responded to a call about a pedestrian being struck by a train near Galesburg. According to a press release, responding personnel were able to find the pedestrian and began administering "lifesaving measures."
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where they were later pronounced deceased, the press release says. Their identity has not been released.
