Davenport woman delivers uplifting message at 2023 Jefferson Awards

She was honored for her work through Kinna's House of Love that cares for women and children facing domestic violence.

NEW YORK CITY, New York — A Quad City woman is back home after being recognized on the national stage.

Luekinna Hodges earned a trip to the Jefferson Awards in New York City on Oct. 4.

She was honored for her work through Kinna's House of Love that cares for women and children facing domestic violence.

Hodges spoke to the audience about her hope to advocate for change and be a light for families fallen on hard times.

"After having been through darkness for so long, I just don't want anybody else to feel that," Hodges said. "So I thank God for giving me the courage to go out now to the highways and byways and help those other women and other kids."
