1 person killed in Poweshiek County crash

According to Iowa State Patrol, one person died after the vehicle they were in hit ice and slid off the roadway before flipping over into a ditch.

POWESHIEK COUNTY, Iowa — Editor's note: Cody Roberts was incorrectly named as the driver in the original News 8 article. The article has been corrected to reflect that Jamal Gant was the driver in this incident.

One person is dead following a fatal crash in Poweshiek County.

According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, a 2003 Chevy Silverado was driving northbound on Highway 146 before it lost control on an icy roadway. The vehicle then entered a ditch and rolled over before finally landing on its roof.

31-year-old passenger Cody Roberts of New Sharon died as a result of his injuries sustained in the crash. The driver, 30-year-old Jamal Gant of Oskaloosa, was transported to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries.
