Police: Disagreement escalates into shots fired in Muscatine

Officers say there were no injuries but one home was hit by gunfire after a disagreement escalated.

MUSCATINE, Iowa — One person is in custody following a shooting in Muscatine on Wednesday afternoon.

According to officials with the Muscatine Police Department, officers received a call reporting shots fired at 408 Broadway St. around 2 p.m. on Oct. 11. Upon arrival, officers determined that there were no injuries, but one residence located at 701 W 4th St. had been hit by gunfire.

Muscatine police claim the shooting was caused by some sort of disagreement between two parties that eventually shot at each other. One suspect, 22-year-old Aaron Doe, was arrested at the scene. He was charged with reckless use of a firearm, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, control or a firearm by a felon and going armed with intent.

24-year-old Marc Castillo and 22-year-old Derek Underdahl were arrested later. Both have been charged with reckless use of a firearm, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, control of a firearm by a felon, going armed with intent and criminal gang participation.

Police don't believe there is any ongoing threat to the public.
