Officials identify East Moline man killed in LeClaire after vehicle struck tree

The Scott County Sheriff's Office has released the name of an East Moline man who died after his vehicle crashed into a tree in LeClaire on Monday, July 8.

LE CLAIRE, Iowa — The Scott County Sheriff's Office has identified a man who died after his vehicle crashed into a tree in LeClaire on Monday, July 8.

The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Vincent Holst, of East Moline. 

LeClaire police discovered Holsts' vehicle just before 5 a.m. near the T-intersection of Forest Grove Road and SW 35th Street. 

A preliminary investigation determined the vehicle was driving east on Forest Grove Road and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection, driving through the intersection and striking a tree on the east side of SW 35th Street.

Officials removed Holst from the vehicle and attempted life-saving measures, but he was ultimately pronounced dead, according to a news release. 

The accident remains under investigation.
