COAL VALLEY, Ill. — The Niabi Zoo is welcoming a prickly new addition to its collection of animals.
On Monday, April 1, a Cape Porcupine named Milele gave birth to a new baby. Zoo officials don't know the gender of their new arrival just yet, since they don't interact with the infant for several months after birth unless absolutely necessary. The birth marks the third successful litter for Milele and her partner Charles.
There's still no word on what the baby porcupette will be named.
