New mural unveiled in downtown Silvis

The entire project took approximately three years to complete, with painting beginning last summer.

SILVIS, Ill. — Downtown Silvis has a bit more color.

City officials debuted a new mural at the city parking lot next to the Silvis post office on Friday, Nov. 22. Crysania Arms and Thomas McGehee designed the mural with input from several local community members. One member of the planning committee told News 8 the mural highlights the city's heritage and sense of community pride.

"Initially, this building had a couple more windows in it, and the business owner blocked them over so we could have a clean slate. I think it's really brought some color to our community," Melinda Thorngren, a member of Silvis Main Street said.

The entire project took approximately three years to complete, with painting beginning last summer.
