Two tornadoes have been confirmed from Tuesday morning's severe storms by the Quad Cities' arm of the National Weather Service.
In a Tweet published Thursday evening, the station announced that surveyors had confirmed two twisters in the QC metro area, one in Rock Island and one in Colona.
The Rock Island tornado has been measured as an EF-1 with an estimated peak wind speed of 95 mph. It traveled for about 1.6 miles and had a maximum width of 150 yards.
The Colona tornado was measured as an EF-2 with an estimated peak wind speed of 115 mph. It traveled for about 2.8 miles and had a maximum width of 600 yards.
Both storms left significant damage in their wake.
These two storms join the roster of confirmed QCA tornadoes from the severe weather string from Friday, March 31 to Wednesday, April 5, including twisters confirmed near Geneseo, Atkinson, Hooppole, Woodhull, Grand Mound and Mediapolis. Damage in other areas was the result of powerful straight-line winds.
