MUSCATINE, Iowa — There's nothing quite like a bonfire to warm up with when the weather turns cold for the season, and Muscatine community members can get their kindling for free thanks to a program with the city.
The Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department will be trimming trees throughout the season, and they'll be collecting logs from those trees that are suitable for firewood. Muscatine residents can pick up a portion of that wood on a first-come, first-serve basis.
In order to pick up the wood, residents must put themselves on a call list. To be placed on that list, call the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department's Park Maintenance Office at 563-263-5464. Once on the list, you will receive a call when the firewood is available, letting you know how to pick it up.
