Muscatine County crash leaves 1 dead, 2 injured

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a Jeep failed to stop at a stop sign and drove through the intersection, fatally crashing with another vehicle.

MUSCATINE, Iowa — Update: The Iowa State Patrol has identified the person who died as 64-year-old Steven Braudt of Wilton, Iowa. The incident remains under investigation.

One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Muscatine County Sunday evening.

According to the Iowa State Patrol (ISP), the crash occurred around 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, north of Muscatine at the intersection of 120th Street and Taylor Avenue. 

An ISP crash report states that a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee was driving eastbound on 120th Street when it failed to stop at a stop sign and drove through the intersection. The Grand Cherokee then crashed into a southbound 2017 Chevy Equinox, causing the Equinox to roll over. 

One person was killed in the crash. Authorities have not identified the victim.

Two others were injured and transported to local hospitals.

The ISP and Muscatine County Sheriff's Office are investigating the crash.
