Muscatine City Council swears in two new members

MUSCATINE, Iowa — Mayor of Muscatine Brad Bark swore in two new members of the Muscatine City Council on Thursday. Don Lampe was sworn in as Ward 1 council member, while Matt Conard was sworn in as an at-large member. The new council members will start their four-year term at the start of 2024.

Incumbents Bark and councilmembers Peggy Gordon of Ward 3 and John Jindrich of Ward 5 were also reinstated to the city council.

Bark, Lampe, Conard and Jindrich ran uncontested in the November city school election. Gordon received nearly 70% of the votes against candidate Madison O'Brien-Espinoza.

The next city council meeting will be held Jan. 4 at 6 p.m. in city hall.
