Muscatine seeks volunteers to serve on new Construction Board

The Construction Board will serve a vital role in the interpretation and implementation of the City of Muscatine's building codes.

MUSCATINE, Iowa — The City of Muscatine is searching for volunteers for the Construction Appeal and Advisory Board, which was established by an ordinance in November by the Muscatine City Council.

The city seeks five qualified volunteers who have experience and training related to building construction to serve on the board. The board will serve as an advisory role to the city council on how building codes are interpreted, implemented and written in the city.

The board will also be the official appeals board for building code interpretations and enforcement decisions and promote public understanding of the value of the building code, which can be found in Title 8 of the Code of Muscatine

The City Council is seeking individuals for the board who are Muscatine residents, have experience in the construction industry, have a robust understanding of building code and are passionate about community service.

Those selected for the board will serve a five-year term and participate in regularly scheduled monthly meetings. Board members will not be able to serve more than two consecutive terms.
