KNOX COUNTY, Ill. — Four people have been arrested and two are still at large after the Knox County Sheriff's Office conducted an investigation into a string of burglaries, officials say.
According to a press release, officials received several reports of stolen vehicles, arson and other burglaries in Knox County, along with Fulton and McDonough Counties.
On March 19, the sheriff's office executed a search warrant at the 600 block of Highway 150 East and retrieved over $10,000 worth of stolen tools and equipment. It's unclear if any suspects were arrested at that location.
Officials say during the investigation, they learned of suspects hiding in the old Briggs Manufacturing factory in Abingdon. The sheriff's office says they "were able to locate other suspects within the old factory," adding that two fled the area and were taken into custody with the help of the K9 unit. Those suspects taken into custody were connected to crimes in Knox, Fulton and McDonough Counties.
The sheriff's office says the following people have been arrested and face numerous charges, including possession of stolen property and trespass:
- David A. Hammack, 34, Bushnell, Illinois
- Jontae M. McCleery, 25, Bushnell, Illinois
- Darin L. R. Koester, 29, Galesburg, Illinois
- Dominque M Darlson, 35, Knoxville Illinois
Two suspects are still at large, according to the sheriff's office. Jason Harrold, 38, of Knoxville and Ashley Laney, 30, of Knoxville, are wanted for questioning. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Galesburg Area Crime Stoppers or the Knox County Sheriff's Office.
