MONMOUTH, Ill. — A Monmouth-Roseville Junior High School teacher has been named the 2024 Bilingual Teacher of the Year by the Illinois State Board of Education.
Sara Mendez, an eighth grade english language development teacher, was celebrated for receiving the award during a Monmouth-Roseville School District board meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 13.
Mendez is one of 15 teachers from across the state who will now compete for the Illinois Teacher of the Year award along with winners of other categories.
