DAVENPORT, Iowa — Editor's Note: The video attached originally aired last year on Dec. 14 and discusses last year's remembrance ceremony on the shooting's 10th anniversary.
Members of the Quad Cities community will gather on Thursday night to remember the victims of one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history.
Moms Demand Action Quad Cities will host an event on the 11th anniversary of the Sandy Hook school shooting, where 20 students and six adults were killed. It will take place at the Metropolitan Community Church of the Quad Cities (MCCQC) at 6 p.m. on Dec. 13. A remembrance wall will be on display at the church, where community members can add names of friends and family who've died from gun violence.
“Each year at this event we recommit to taking action to prevent future tragedies like this, as well as all other forms of gun violence that plague our communities daily," Kaleigh Rogers with Moms Demand Action said.
MCCQC, One Human Family and Quad Cities Interfaith are all sponsoring the service.
