MOLINE, Ill. — A popular Moline intersection was closed Wednesday evening due to a crash involving seven vehicles.
A News 8 team member spotted a multi-vehicle crash around 8:20 p.m. at the intersection of 16th Street and Avenue of the Cities. According to an email from Moline police sent around 9 a.m. on Thursday, a Chevy Impala was traveling northbound on 16th Street in the west lane while a Kia Sorento was heading in the same direction in the east lane.
Police said the Impala changed lanes and struck the driver's side of the Kia. The Impala swerved off the roadway and hit a parked Chevy Equinox before coming back onto the road and then hitting two other vehicles, a Mercury Grand Maquis and a Chrysler Town and Country. This collision caused the Town and County to also hit a Honda Accord and Toyota Venza.
The Chevy Impala driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and was cited for improper lane use, police said. No other injuries were reported.
News 8 had a photographer respond to the scene. The intersection was closed for some time as crews cleaned up the accident but has since reopened.
