Moline moving to monthly utility billing starting January

The city formerly used quarterly billing. Here's how residents can expect the change to happen.

MOLINE, Ill. — Residents of Moline will begin paying utilities monthly, rather than quarterly, starting in January.

The city expects the shift will help residents plan their monthly budgets, monitor usage and reduce seasonal price fluctuation, according to the press release.

Residents can sign up on the city's website for automatic payments which are available through both e-check and credit card with no service fee. Individual payments can also be made online with a fee.

Residents can also go paperless and receive water bills through email by contacting utilities@moline.il.us or calling (309) 524-2070.

Here's how the transition to monthly billing will happen:

  • Customers last billed in October will receive a quarterly bill covering 74 days of use on Jan. 17, due Feb. 1. The first monthly bill will be sent on Feb. 14 and is due on Feb. 29.
  • Customers last billed in November will receive a quarterly bill covering 44 days of use on Jan. 24 and due Feb. 8. The first monthly bill will be sent on Feb. 21 and is due on March 7.
  • Customers billed in December will not see a bill in December but will receive a quarterly bill covering 105 days of use on Jan. 10, due Jan. 25. The first monthly bill will be sent on Feb. 7 and is due on Feb. 22.
