Cause of Sunday afternoon duplex fire in Moline deemed intentional, authorities say

The Moline Fire Department is investigating a Sunday afternoon duplex fire that they say was caused intentionally.

MOLINE, Ill. — The Moline Fire Department (MFD) is investigating a Sunday afternoon duplex fire that they say was caused intentionally.

According to MFD Fire Chief Steven G. Regenwether, firefighters responded to the fire in the 2400 block of 4th Avenue around 3:30 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke billowing from the vacant duplex's second floor. They soon discovered multiple fires in separate areas of the house.

Firefighters brought the fire under control in about an hour. No neighboring properties were damaged. 

One firefighter sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.  

The MFD's Fire Prevention and Investigation Bureau is investigating the fire which they have classified as intentional. Anybody with information related to the incident should call the Moline Fire Department at 309-524-2266.
