Moline house fire displaces 7 people

No one was injured in the blaze, according to the Moline Fire Department.

MOLINE, Ill. — Seven people were forced out of their home following a house fire in Moline.

According to the Moline Fire Department, firefighters responded to reports of a structure fire shortly after 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16. Crews found a single-family home with smoke rising from the house's rear and fire burning inside an enclosed porch. Firefighters took approximately 40 minutes to bring the fire under control and then spent another two hours securing the scene.

The home's smoke alarms were functioning, which alerted the residents and gave them time to evacuate before crews arrived. No injuries were reported, according to fire officials. The impacted residents are being helped by the Red Cross.

The home's unattached garage and a vehicle parked in the driveway were damaged from the heat produced by the blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
