MOLINE, Ill. — Four juniors and two seniors from the Moline High School varsity cheerleading team were selected to participate in the CheerHawai'i USA Invitational, a week-long college prep camp on the campus of the University of Hawai'i.

The camp focuses on building cheer skills, growth in leadership and learning about Hawaiian culture. Cheerleaders receive college-level cheer, dance and stunt instruction from current and former collegiate coaches.

The students selected include juniors Irelyn Ponder, Maria Figueroa-Ugarte, Thalia Mitchell and Jolina Gonzalez, and seniors Emily Finley and Genevieve Baumann.

Megan Ramirez, head coach of competitive cheerleading at Moline High School, said in a press release she was proud to have the school represented at the elite camp.

"The hard work, commitment, and passion for cheerleading have earned these athletes this outstanding opportunity, and we are confident that they will make a lasting impression with their exceptional talent and positive attitudes," Ramirez said. "We are excited to see them all shine on the national stage and represent our team with grace and pride."

Camp will be held over the summer from June 19 to 26.
