MOLINE, Ill. — A fire at Grace Bible Fellowship in Moline has left the church without a place to worship or distribute food.
According to the Moline Fire Department, fire crews responded to the church just after midnight on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024. Officials say a Moline police officer reported a section of the church engulfed in flames before the arrival of fire crews.
Two people were inside the church at the time of the fire but were able to safely evacuate.
The fire was successfully extinguished in about 50 minutes.
According to church leaders, the City of Moline has shut down the church and its food pantry. Now, the church is focused on finding a temporary home for the parish and food pantry, which serves approximately 2,000 people a week.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
