A new furry friend on the force: K9 officer Shiloh sworn in during Moline City Council

Shiloh joined the department in November and was officially sworn in during Tuesday's meeting.

MOLINE, Ill. — The Moline Police Department has a new recruit helping sniff out crime around the city.

At their meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 5, the Moline City Council gave the oath of office to Shiloh, the department's new police officer canine. Police announced the recruitment of their new furry comrade on Nov. 14.

According to department officials, Shiloh is trained to identify the scent of Triphenylphosphine Oxide, which is used in the construction of many phones, computers and other electronic devices. He also helps provide therapy for children involved in traumatic incidents and his fellow officers.
