Moline City Council looking for candidates to fill 6th Ward opening

The seat was vacated after former 6th Ward Alderman Pat O'Brien passed away in early December.

MOLINE, Ill. — The City of Moline is seeking 6th Ward residents interested in filling a city council vacancy left by the passing of former alderman Pat O'Brien in early December.

On Thursday, Dec. 28, Moline Mayor Sangeetha Rayapati announced that the city will be accepting applications between Jan. 2 and Jan 9. Candidates will be interviewed by the mayor between Jan. 15 and Jan. 19, and the mayor said she hopes to have an official recommendation for the council at their Jan. 19 meeting.

A vote to formally approve the new alderman would then follow on Jan. 23, and if approved, the member would be sworn into office on Feb. 13.

The application can be found here, or you can grab a physical copy at Moline City Hall.
