MOLINE, Ill. — The City of Moline successfully ended negotiations with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local 1132, coming to a three-year labor agreement to improve pay and benefits Wednesday.
All 142 members of Local 1132 will receive wage increases each of the three years, paid parental leave for childbirth and adoption and healthcare premium limits. Moline is the first city in the area to offer paid parental leave, according to a press release.
Local 1132 members overwhelmingly approved the agreement, which was then adopted by the Moline City Council Tuesday night. The labor agreement will be in effect through Dec. 31, 2025.
Here are the key terms of the agreement:
Wages and bonuses
Employees will receive a wage increase of at least 5% in 2023, based on a classification and compensation plan created for employees of the City of Moline.
In addition to this base increase, employees will receive a 2.25% increase every year they work or a 1.5% lump sum payment. New employees will receive a one-time signing bonus of $650.
In 2024 and 2025, employees will receive two wage increases of 2.5% and 2.75%. Combined with other increases, employees will receive a minimum increase of 17% over three years.
Health insurance
The agreement will keep the current benefit structure intact for health insurance. The city will cover 80% of the premium while employees cover the remaining 20%.
Total premiums will increase by 3% in 2023 and 2024 and by no more than 7% in 2025.
