Missing Macomb man's vehicle found at Black Hawk park in Rock Island

Police said 46-year-old Joseph E. Beranek was reported missing to Macomb police on Aug. 27. He was last seen by family on Aug. 21.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Macomb police said the vehicle of a man who has been missing for almost two weeks was found at the Black Hawk State Historic Site in Rock Island.

On Aug. 27, 46-year-old Joseph E. Beranek was reported missing to Macomb police. Beranek had not been seen by family since Aug. 21.

An investigation determined Beranek had driven to the Rock Island park sometime around Aug. 21. The park covers more than 200 acres along the Rock River. 

Beranek is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs around 190 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue Looney Tunes t-shirt with black or khaki shorts.

Multiple search crews were at the park on Friday, Aug. 30, but Beranek has not been found.
