MILAN, Ill. — Kids at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School in Milan got to spend some time learning about and celebrating the arts.
The school's first-ever Fine Arts Day took place on Friday, Oct. 25. Students got to enjoy activities such as ballet and drumming.
"I like to inspire my students so that someday when they're grown, they have music in their life, even if it's just them singing to their child, a lullaby, singing in a choir or playing in a band or just having music with them and even appreciating the arts. To go to an art museum or to make art or to dance and move. That's the goal, is that they have that in their heart and want to continue as they grow up," Giovanna Davila, a music teacher at Jefferson, said.
Members of Ballet Quad Cities, the Figge Art Museum and World Music Drumming were all around to help the kids.
