MERCER COUNTY, Ill. — A Mercer County High School employee has been arrested for inappropriate conduct, according to the district.
In a statement sent to News 8, the district said, "On October 28, 2024, Mercer County Schools received allegations of inappropriate conduct by a Mercer County High School employee. The District notified the authorities and placed the employee on administrative leave. Law enforcement notified the District on October 30, 2024, that the employee was arrested in connection with the allegations. The District is, and will continue to, fully cooperate with all investigating agencies. The safety of our students is the District’s top priority and the District will continue working to protect our kids from any and all inappropriate behavior."
According to court records, a person by the name of Brandon Livingston appeared in a Mercer County court on Thursday, Oct. 31 for charges of official misconduct, a Class 3 felony, and a misdemeanor charge of distribution of explicit material to a minor. They were conditionally released with a preliminary hearing set for Nov. 19 at 9 a.m.
An employee by the name of Brandon Livingston is listed as an agriculture teacher on the Mercer County High School staff directory.
