JACKSON COUNTY, Iowa — One person is dead and two injured after a semi-truck vs. tractor crash in Jackson County on Thursday, Oct. 3.
The crash happened near the intersection of U.S. Route 61 and 196th Avenue, about 10 miles north of Maquoketa.
Officials say a semi-truck was traveling southbound in the outside lane of Route 61 when it struck the tractor that was also traveling southbound on Route 61 partially in the outside lane and the west shoulder of the road.
The crash sent the semi-truck into the west ditch, where it rolled and came to rest upright.
One person, identified as 35 years old, died in the crash. Their name is being withheld at this time.
Two other people injured in the crash were transported to area hospitals, one by helicopter.
