Man injured after shooting in Galesburg, police still looking for suspect

GALESBURG, Ill. — Around 4 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 10, officers responded to a shots fired call near the 100 block of North Seminary Street in Galesburg, according to a press release from the police department

After arriving at the scene, officers found evidence of a shooting but did not find any victims. Shortly after officers received a call about a reported gunshot victim being dropped off at St. Mary's Medical Center's emergency department. 

The gunshot wound victim has been identified as Jonathan Straughter, who has since been released from the hospital after receiving treatment for his injuries. 

Officers were told at the hospital that a white Chrysler 300 had dropped Straughter off and left. The car returned while officers were still at St. Mary's, allowing them to be able to identify the driver as Paul Stingley.

Stingley was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon but is not believed to be involved with the shots fired call at the Seminary Street area. Police are still looking for a suspect and investigating the shooting.
