EAST GALESBURG, Ill. — A man is dead following a house fire in East Galesburg on Saturday, July 6.
According to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, firefighters from East Galesburg and Knoxville responded to reports of a structure fire in the 300 block of Illinois Avenue shortly before 1:30 a.m. Upon arrival, they extinguished flames at the front of the residence before entering the home and finding the victim.
The victim, identified as a 77-year-old East Galesburg man, was later pronounced dead.
The man's name hasn't been released. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
