Man arrested after police chase in Louisa County

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa — A man has been arrested after allegedly leading police on a chase through Columbus Junction.

According to the Louisa County Sheriff's Office, officers with the Columbus Junction Police Department attempted a traffic stop on a 2008 Nissan Maxima shortly after 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3. The driver, 46-year-old Francisco Nunez, allegedly fled the scene westbound, hitting multiple vehicles in the process. Nunez crashed into a construction barrier on Highway 92, causing the vehicle to roll over several times. Officers claim the suspect fled the crash before being arrested.

Nunez was booked into the Louisa County Jail. He faces the following charges:

  • Felony eluding
  • Driving with a revoked license related to an OWI
  • Interference with official acts
  • Driving while suspended
  • Reckless driving
  • Multiple traffic citations
