1 person in custody following robbery of Delmar bank

One person is in custody following an alleged bank robbery at the Clinton National Bank's Delmar branch on Friday, March 8.

DELMAR, Iowa — UPDATE 03/12/2024:

37-year-old Jeffrey Bettis of Knoxville, Iowa has been charged with first-degree robbery in connection to an attempted robbery that occurred on March 8, 2024 at the Clinton National Bank's Delmar branch.

In Iowa, a First-degree robbery charge could be punishable up to 25 years in prison. 

Bettis has a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 19th, 2024 at 8:30 AM.

One person is in custody following an alleged bank robbery in Delmar, Iowa.

According to the Clinton County Sheriff's Office, authorities responded to reports of a robbery at the Clinton National Bank's Delmar branch shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 8. When they arrived, the suspect was gone, but officers say they identified the suspect through video surveillance at the bank.

Iowa State Patrol officers said they stopped the suspect's vehicle in Eldridge. They subsequently arrested 37-year-old Jeffrey Brian Bettis of Knoxville for his alleged involvement in the robbery. Charges against Bettis are still pending.

The Clinton County Sheriff's Office is asking anybody with information about the incident or surveillance video near the bank to contact the Sheriff's Office at 563-242-9211 or Clinton Crimestoppers at 563-242-6595.
