DAVENPORT, Iowa — A Davenport bar and lounge has released a statement after an altercation took place overnight, Saturday into Sunday.
M Lounge, located at 217 Brady Street, released the following statement on its Facebook:
"We’d like to address the unfortunate event of last night. While tensions were high an altercation broke out. Security handled it to the best of their ability & unfortunately had to resort to using mace to break it up. One of the groups involved in the altercation got immediately removed off the premises & felt the need to pull out their firearm & shoot in the air. Thank god, no one was injured in regards to the firearm. We do sincerely apologize to those affected by the mace. Our security are aware that is a last resort for deescalation. We tried our best to help those who were affected by it & tending to them as much as we could. As some may know we try our best to ensure a fun & safe environment for our customers, unfortunately some have to ruin that for others. We apologize again to those affected & want to let you guys know we will try even harder to ensure a fun but safe environment!"
Davenport Police says they responded to the 200 block of Brady Street for a shots fired report shortly before 12:45 a.m. Sunday, March 17. No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing, according to DPD.
There was some speculation on the Facebook post that the gun was not fired up in the air. However, M Lounge responded saying that is what police told them and what witnesses reported, adding in their comment, "regardless of where it was pointed, we’re just thankful everyone was safe."
