KNOXVILLE, Ill. — The Knox County Fair is the oldest running consecutive fair in the state of Illinois. It’s been going on since 1851, and what brings people back is the community, according to treasurer Darcy Thorp. People have been coming for generations, and she said it’s a place where they can see a neighbor they haven’t seen in a year or so and just catch up.
It’s also a place for goat shows; on Tuesday, July 9 the fair held their goat show. 11-year-old Brixton Sullivan and his goat, Ladybug placed third in their group. This was a big deal for the duo because it was only their second show, and some of the goats they were competing against had been ranked nationally. Brixton says he’s definitely hanging his third place ribbon up on the wall.
And if you haven’t made it there yet, the fair is running until Saturday, July 13. You can check out all the fun in store for the week here.
