Jo Daviess County paraeducator charged with sexually abusing student

Alycia J. Deckert is charged with two counts of sexual assault and aggravated sexual abuse after allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with a student.

JO DAVIESS COUNTY, Ill. — A Jo Daviess County paraeducator has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual assault and sexual abuse.

Alycia J. Deckert, 42, of Scales Mound, has been charged with two counts of criminal sexual assault and two counts of aggravated sexual abuse, according to Chris Allendorf, Jo Daviess County State's Attorney.

Allendorf said the charges are Class 1 felonies due to the victims age and also because Decker held a position of trust or authority in relation to the victim.

The charges stem from an investigation by the Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office and the Elizabeth Police Department into a report that Deckert was involved in a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student.

As of Tuesday, March 5, Deckert is being held at the Jo Daviess County Jail and further investigation is currently underway by the County Sheriff's office.
