1 person dead after car accident Friday morning in Jo Daviess County

The accident closed down North Elizabeth-Scales Mound Road for multiple hours, according to a Facebook post from the sheriff's office.

SCALES MOUND, Ill. — Update Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 9 a.m.: The passenger who died in the accident last Friday has been identified as Tanya Wills, 44, of Scales Mound.

One person has died after a car accident Friday morning in rural Jo Daviess County, officials say. 

According to the Jo Daviess Sheriff's Office, a blue 1999 Dodge Dakota was traveling southbound on North Elizabeth-Scales Mound Road near Scales Mound when it veered off the road and collided with a guardrail. 

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 35-year-old Jeremy Rehor of Scales Mound, and he has been transported to a hospital in Dubuque for his injuries. The passenger of the vehicle did not survive the accident and their identity is being withheld pending family notification. 

There were no other passengers in the vehicle at the time of the accident and it remains under investigation. The accident closed down North Elizabeth-Scales Mound Road for multiple hours, according to a Facebook post from the sheriff's office
