GALESBURG, Ill. — The Galesburg City Council has voted to purchase a set of new playground equipment for Cooke Park.
At their meeting on Monday, Nov. 18, council members approved a payment of approximately $111,000 for the equipment. The acquisition includes slides, monkey bars, climbing equipment and more.
According to City documents, the full price tag of the playground equipment is approximately $192,000, but a grant from GameTime will cover a little over $80,000 of the cost. The City also expects to be reimbursed for 50% of its payment.
City officials told News 8 that Cooke Park will also include a picnic shelter, restrooms, a walking trail, a splash pad and a parking lot when it's completed.
