Survey out for travel study on Andalusia Road in Rock Island County

A survey is out to gain feedback on how residents travel Andalusia Road/Indian Bluff Road from Turkey Hollow Road to US 150.

ROCK ISLAND COUNTY, Ill. — Public input is being sought to study a well-traveled east-west corridor in Rock Island County.

The Bi-State Regional Commission, along with Rock Island, Milan, Moline, and Rock Island County, is conducting a study on Andalusia Road/Indian Bluff Road from Turkey Hollow Road to U.S. 150.

The western point of the study area starts just west of the Rock Island Industrial Park and continues through the commercial area of Milan, before turning into Indian Bluff Road at the Knoxville Road intersection.

The road continues south of the Quad Cities International Airport in Moline, ending at U.S. 150 which leads into Coal Valley.

The commission hopes to gather feedback on how area residents travel and if they use the east-west corridor for work, school, shopping, or other trips.

The survey is looking for residents to answer the questions such as:

  • If you had a wish list of transportation improvements for this corridor, what would they be?
  • If you are answering for a business, what is the approximate split between cars/light trucks and semis/commercial vehicles entering/exiting your business on an average day?
  • Do you have any challenges accessing your property from Andalusia Road/Indian Bluff Road?
  • If sidewalks and/or bike paths were built on the Andalusia Road/Indian Bluff Road corridor, how would you or your employees use it?

According to a press release from the Bi-State Regional Commission, the road is "one of the few east-west continuous corridors in the Illinois Quad Cities and a highly used route for commerce. Knowing citizen and business use of this corridor and thoughts on improvements will guide the overall plan for the important road segment."

The study is anticipated to be completed in June 2025.
