Davenport release new renderings on $24M Main Street Landing project

The $24 million project would re-develop the area near the SkyBridge into a brand new park, with the goal of revamping the city's riverfront.

The $24 million Main Street Landing project would re-develop the area near the SkyBridge into a brand new park. The City's been planning the project for decades — and it's expected to take years to complete.

The plans call for a new pedestrian bridge, with part of it going under the current Skybridge. There would also be multi-purpose areas that could be transformed into an ice rink and play areas.

The funding for the project includes American Rescue Plan funds, money from the State of Iowa and private fundraising.

Davenport’s Acting City Administrator and Public Works Director Nicole Gleason told News 8 that the next step is to go out to bid. She says the plans and specifications will be on the Sept. 3 city council agenda for consideration.

Once the bid closes and there’s a contract, the City will release more information on the schedule for the project.
