MOLINE, Ill. — Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White is reminding the public that the expiration date extension for driver's licenses, ID cards and learner's permits that was enacted as a result of the COVID pandemic will end on Dec. 1.
The pandemic also caused White's office to expand online renewals, and they will continue to mail letters containing unique PIN numbers for online renewal to eligible customers. Customers should call 217-785-1424 to confirm their eligibility for online renewal or to acquire their PIN. They may also go to the Secretary of State's website to learn their eligibility status.
Additional online services offered by White's office include acquiring a duplicate driver's license or ID card, obtaining a driver's record and purchasing license plate stickers.
Customers visiting a driver services facility to renew their license or ID card can make an appointment at one of the 30 facilities offering appointments, or they can go to a walk-in location. Visit White's website to determine whether your facility requires an appointment. Individuals without internet access may call 844-817-4649 to schedule an appointment.
As a reminder, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has extended the federal REAL ID deadline to May 3, 2023.
