Due to a “serious issue” with the railroad track that crosses through East Moline, traffic on 19th Street/Illinois Route 84 will be closed for repairs.
The railroad track crosses 19th Street just north of the intersection of 18th Avenue/Illinois Route 92, near the Circle K gas station. Emergency repair work was scheduled to start at 8 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2015 and be done by 2 p.m., according to the Director of Engineering for the City of East Moline.
While crews are working, southbound traffic will detour from IL 84 onto 13th Street down to the IL 92 intersection. Eastbound and westbound traffic on IL 92 will not be able to turn north onto IL 84.
There will be signs to direct drivers. If you plan to travel this way, you are advised to consider an alternate route.
The work will be done by the Iowa Interstate Railroad and they will be replacing the damaged rail.
